Adult Programs SUNDAY SCHOOL Classes meet from 9:45-10:30 a.m. ALLEN HART Originating about 1920, the class was taught by Mrs. Ed Allen and, later, Mrs. Madison Hart, followed by Miss Ruth Tucker and Mrs. Steve Thurman. Room 202 Teachers: Mary Ann Burke, Rosemary Hamblin, Shirley Sanders. FIRESIDE Studying all areas of the Christian faith, leadership rotates among class members who prize high-spirited, freewheeling discussion. Room 203. GARNETT PEARCE Named for a longtime elder, the class studies the Bible based on the International Sunday School Lesson. Room 215. GENTRY MARTIN Studying scripture by understanding its historical and cultural context, its meaning, message, and application in daily life. Teacher: Tom Huckleberry. Room 217. GOODWILL Originally organized in 1945. Teachers: Elmer Jackson, Bill Morgan. Room 204. LIVING WORD Topical discussions, meets on Sunday morning and Thursdays at 7:45 p.m. Leader: Ken Pearce. Room 100. POSSIBILITIES A discussion class with many members in the 35 to 55 age range. Teacher: Larry Scott. Room 207. VOYAGERS A discussion class for all ages with changing topics. Room 206. Anyone interested in joining a class is encouraged to visit, talk to the teacher, or ask a minister.
FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP The church offers four women’s circles intended to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries. Most circles meet the second Tuesday of each month. The groups are loosely formed by age, although there are no restrictions on attendance. The groups are Lair-Montgomery; Nichols; Owens-Powell; and Bradshaw. Contact the church office to learn more about meeting times and contacts for each circle. CHRISTIAN MEN’S FELLOWSHIP The group meets in January, March, May, July, September and November for a meal and discussion. Contact Philip Nichols. BREAD BREAKERS A recent addition to the church’s fellowship offerings, Bread Breakers allows adults to meet for dinner, combining opportunities to deepen personal connections, enjoy a good meal, and grow spiritually. Contact the church office for an up-to-date schedule. WEDNESDAY MEALS & WORSHIP During the fall, winter and spring, the church hosts Wednesday night dinners and worship in the Christian Life Center. Reservations are required for dinner. SPECIAL EVENTS Particularly in the Lenten season preceding Easter and the Advent season leading to Christmas, the church offers a host of extra activities and opportunities for worship. Call the office or consult the Highlights newsletters for specific seasonal information or a church calendar. SERVICE The church has several standing committees and departments that provide a range of services. Anyone is welcome to attend meetings or participate.
